We’re willing to try almost anything in order to get the best, most beautiful skin possible. We are always testing, examining and documenting when it comes to skin treatments and the results they offer. What works for some people may not work for others, and the more we learn the better we are at helping you get the skin you want. And though we’re not always perfect at sticking to that ideal diet, we know that eating right can help our skin get that little extra boost. Read on to learn about how food can affect your skin.
Good Foods for Skin
Vitamin C-Rich Foods
Vitamin C is good for you, even if you’re not fighting off a cold. This powerful vitamin can also help your skin fight off damage from the sun, and help boost the production of collagen and elastin. Oranges, brussel sprouts, and red bell peppers are all rich in Vitamin C, for instance, so adding more into your diet might show up as more radiant skin later on!
Green Tea
Green Tea is one of those things you’ve likely heard about for years and years. We know we have. This drink is packed full of antioxidants that help prevent DNA damage and stop inflammation in its tracks. Consider switching out your morning coffee for a cup of this green powerhouse for a month or two, and see if it gives you a more beautiful complexion.
Essential Fatty Acids
Foods with essential fatty acids can help keep our skin’s natural oil barrier intact and strong, which mean prevented blemishes and resolved overly dry skin. Add in some essential fatty acids into your diet by consuming more olive oil, flax seeds, walnuts, and cold-water fish like salmon.
Incorporating more whole foods (read: foods that aren’t processed as heavily) into your diet might help you absorb more nutrients. Plus, you’ll be giving your body a break from preservatives in modern foods like fast food, fried food, and overly processed foods. Of course, don’t feel pressured to cut anything out. Nothing is worse than not having anything to eat! Our advice is to slowly incorporate some of the amazing foods above and keep track of how they make you feel and look.
